Sun. May 18th at Viva Cantina in Burbank, Ca.

THE MESSAROUND EXPANDS YOUR CONSCIOUSNESS WITH 60’S PSYCH TITANS YELLOW PAYGES, EXPLODES WITH PUNK THRILLERS THE GEARS, EXCITES WITH GARAGE SAVAGES THEE TEEPEES AND ALL-AROUND EXACERBATES WITH SATANS CHEERLEADERS!

It’s a Deluxe Screamin’ Freak Show Au Go-Go that’s Guaranteed to Turn Your Mind Inside Out!

Messaround mastermind Jonny Whiteside gleefully hosts the long overdue return of late 70’s punk rock paragons THE GEARS. Always on of Los Angeles very highest quality slam-hounds, the Gears historic legacy stands tall and eternal, but lately these wild men have been gilding their formidable lily via not only via that wild collaboration with rock legend Freddy Boom Boom Cannon but also now with a forthcoming new album of freshly minted instant classic Gears originals. There’s no stopping these Gears from rockin’, Thank Dog!

No less arousing is the mess debut of fabled 66-spawned Sunset Strip psych rockers THE YELLOW PAYGES, featuring founder-vocalist DAN HORTTER, bass boss MICHAEL RUMMANS (who joined the band in 66 after the Sloths evaporated), drummer DANNY GORMAN (who came aboard in 1968) and ably augmented by reliably raucous guitar slingers DAVE PROVOST AND MIKE LIVINGSTON. The band’s brief span was fraught with action—touring with Animals, rocking the Hollywood bowl, were the band EVER to record a song composed by epochal pop genius Jimmy Webb (and it was Webb himself who pitched it to them!) and leaving behind a clutch of brilliant recordings and memorable TV appearances—but since their 1970 implosion (and recent resurrection), they have played only a handful of shows. Expect a hallucinogenic torrent of drastically perfected, spiritually accelerated, soul-shattering, synapse rattling big beat prophecy!

Anytime punk-garage savages THEE TEEPEES hit the bandstand warpath it’s a sonic bloodbath of cochlea clogging ka-pow, primitive animalistic abandon and exquisitely minimalistic expectation shredding. With their just-released full length eponymous platter and stomping single "Indian Bingo," this fearsome foursome have submerged to a shadowy underground strata where their sublime employ of the obnoxious and the artful, all wrapped in a horse blanket of crafty bait and switch rock & roll subterfuge and sheer bratty beauty, has definitely vouchsafed the disorderly tribe a measure of big beat immortality.

In another stunning Messaround first, it’s an unexpected invasion by Long Beach garage scum SATANS CHEERLEADERS which is certain to induce chills, fever and mass hysteria. This gaggle of malefactors crawled onto local bandstands back in the mid-1980s and quickly distinguished themselves as the most delinquent rock & rollers this side of the South Bay Surfers. These are really weird weirdos (who else would cover Red Krayola?) and leader Jeff Satan—now transformed into JANE SATAN—deftly exploits a screamy, filthy, visionary cultural wherewithal. Exemplified by such grimy classics as “Black Dahlia” and “Genocide Utopia” Satan’s Cheerleaders represent the most glorious lows to which rock & roll can—and should—stoop.
