Hey, my buddy Chachi made some limited "Jinx" stickers. They're just a buck and ALL the $$ goes to local "No Kill" Animal Shelters to help my brothers and sisters. Stop by the store and pick one up.
So far, with YOUR help, we've raised $3800.00 dollars! Wow!!!
Love, Jink The Cat (like my page bitches!)

Strange Tales From The Doc #19 Dr Strange Records night at The Roxy, Hollywood, Ca. 1997 w/VooDoo Glow Skulls, The Bollweevils, Schleprock, Rhythm Collision and Man Dingo.

Strange Tales From The Doc #17 Dr Strange Records night at The Roxy, Hollywood, Ca. 1997 w/VooDoo Glow Skulls, The Bollweevils, Schleprock, Rhythm Collision and Man Dingo.

Time for Strange Tales!

Dr Strange Records night at The Roxy, Hollywood, Ca. 1997 w/VooDoo Glow Skulls, The Bollweevils, Schleprock, Rhythm Collision and Man Dingo.
This was one of a couple [but the largest] of the “Dr Strange Records Nights” that were put on throughout the summer of 1997. It was a real honor to have had a sold out gig at the world famous Roxy and a lot of fun to hang out with the Dr Strange “family”. My only regret? Having to work with Goldenvoice. I should say “post Gary” Goldenvoice (Gary was the original owner of Goldenvoice). I got stuck working with a roid-raged dick lick named Mitch who had anger problems. But even though he was involved it was still a lot of fun. I remember earlier in the afternoon Crystal [my wife] and I taking out The Bollweevils, who are from Chicago, to California’s best pizza place; Barro’s [R.I.P.]. Of course The Bollweevils claimed Chicago style pizza was the best but they were wrong. Good but not as good as ours!
I stressed out a little because my car; The Red Scare, had a full load of heavy ‘Weevils on board and trying to make it over Kellog Hill on the way to Hollywood…Well, let’s just say The Red Scare [‘81 Toyota Corolla] wasn’t happy but he pulled it together like a trooper and we made it. We got to The Roxy and were hanging out in the back parking lot area waiting for the other bands to arrive. I remember Man Dingo pulling up in their van, opening the door and smoke factory billowing out followed by three stumbling Dingo’s! It was like the movie “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” (Google it) Man Dingo had the reputation of always playing drunk, stoned or both. Something I did NOT like. If you have to do that, save for AFTER the gig! While the bands were arriving and setting up Mitch was constantly yelling at me, the band members and anyone else he could find. He got into it with Daryl, singer of The Bollweevils, and it nearly came to blows! What a fucking stress case! This gig was all about having some fun and we were not going to let this buzz-kill ruin it for us.
Of course once all was said and done the gig went off without a hitch and all the bands killed it! I know you’re dying to ask “So, who was the best band that night Doc?”. Hmm….honestly? They were all great, a 10 outta 10, but the band that was an “11” that night? The Bollweevils. They are still one of the best bands I have EVER seen. They make the hair on the back of your next stand on end. Pure energy! Oh, I do remember only seeing about a ¼ of VooDoo Glow Skulls set because I was outside getting yelled at by Mitch for something stupid I’m sure!
After the gig was over we were all walking to our cars and happened to see Mitch in his. The Bollweevils were quick to surround his car, in a threatening way, and after a few scary taunts and threats they let him drive off. Luck for Mitch…..Hey, if you have the time, check out these links to the above Dr Strange bands and let me know who YOU think would have been the best band to see that night. Merry Kwanza!
